The main common room has been transformed into party central!!!

There's streamers and balloons and tons of fun and games. Haruka, Luigi, and Duck have made sure that there's a little something for everyone.

There's a food table with all kinds of snacks and candy as well as pizza with every combination of toppings you could ask for.

There's dance games out with their mats on the floor for fun and friendly competitions, and a sign that says there's a scavenger hunt for anyone interested. There's also a bunch of machines, almost like a margarita bar (but of course not!) that offer all kinds of milkshakes and slushies for anyone who'd want one. Fun, happy, upbeat pop music with bubblegum lyrics is playing just loud enough to be fun but not to give anyone a headache.

Haruka had made sure that the kitchen staff knew they wouldn't need to make dinner tonight, and they were using all paper cups and plates so no clean up! Everyone could have fun tonight!

"We just wanted to welcome you all to the Clipper! So enjoy the snacks, and have fun!"

"Hey. Hey. Steve. Steve, guess what."

Says Louise, sidling up to him.

"Did you know that it only takes two pounds of pressure to push someone's nose bone into their brain?"

"No, really?" He looks curious. "If that's the case, I guess I must be pretty lucky that everyone who's hit me in the face has been real bad at it."

"Yeah. You gotta drive your palm up into their nose, like this." She demonstrates, acting it out against the air.

"That way it goes all the way up and pierces the part behind your eye. It's how people got mummified back then too."

Steve considers this. "I mean, I thought they took the brains out through the nose," he muses, because Louise definitely does not seem like the kind of child that you pull your metaphorical punches with.

"Although that's pretty good form," he adds. "For the nose hit. You know where to hit if you can't reach somebody's nose?"

"Maybe that. I don't know. I fell asleep watching the documentary." She says, shrugging.

But Louise nods and gets into a fighting stance with Steve.

"Punch the groin and kick their legs out from under them."

"I saw it in a book, but I'm guessing none of the books around here are that interesting." That definitely sounds too graphic for the Clipper, if Alfredo was having trouble even finding medical texts with much anatomy in them.

"Exactly. Good." He looks over her posture, then reaches out and shifts her arms a little. "Knees are a good spot to aim for. And being small makes you hard to grab or hit back."

"No books are interesting. Why would here be any better?"

Louise lets him position her, nodding.

"Yeah. Yeah yeah. Got it." She says, but her rabbit ears nod with her and they're fairly grabbable.

"Also I don't clip my fingernails because I wanted to get them long enough to scratch and claw people but every time they get too long people here just pin me down long enough to trim them. They know they'd lose their eyeballs otherwise."

"You must've grown up with TV," Steve points out, maybe a little bemused, but he doesn't really argue past that. There are very few interesting books here.

The rabbit ears are grabbable, true, but he figures they'll come off and she can still get away, so they're not much of a problem.

It's what she says next that really gets him. "They hold you down?" Jesus. "Have you been in the Sick Ward? For punishment."

He desperately hopes not, but he honestly isn't sure she's going to answer in the negative.

You'd think that, wouldn't you, Steve? Louise nods, fervent.

"Probably because I refused to take baths or go to bed at a reasonable hour. Who do these people think they are? I don't even listen to my mom about that stuff!"

She gives a more enthusiastic nod.

"Sure. Usually because I wreck stuff when no one's looking. If I attack directly I just get frozen."

He nods, doing his best not to look too grim, but obviously he doesn't like the method of choice for stopping Patient "trouble." On the one hand, sure, it seems nice and non-invasive and harmless. On the other hand, it really isn't.

And the Sick Ward definitely isn't any better.

"That is a problem," he agrees. "But they at least need to see you to do that. So you've got the right idea, doing it behind their backs. That can be pretty effective, too. Sometimes even better, when they know someone's doing something, but they don't know who or how."

"Shame that mirrors don't work." Says the voice of someone who definitely tried it.

"Good idea to try, though," he comments - it was. "We'll just all have to get better at sneaking, then. Although really, one thing I've found is if you act like you're supposed to be wherever you are and doing whatever you're doing, sometimes people believe it and won't question you."

"Steve. Steve. I am amazing at sneaking. I am so good at being loud and noticeable that everyone who hates me just IGNORES me."

Okay, he can't help but grin. "That's real smart, too." He'd ruffle the hat, but he doesn't think she'd appreciate that kind of gesture. "Then you keep it up. And maybe I'll follow your example. I used to get on everyone's nerves, too. Maybe I should try it again."

She would not appreciate the gesture, so Steve's restraint is good here.

"Would be amazing if you did, Steve."

"I'll see what I can do," he promises. It won't turn out to be too hard at all. "I already have a couple ideas, at least."

Though, "In the meantime, you want a milkshake? I mean, free ice cream." Yeah, it's sort of a bribe. But it's not like they're going to be won over by it.

"A stranger, offering me ice cream to come with him? Sign me up!"

Steve grins. "Come on, then. Let's see if they have chocolate."
